So what's the difference between a battery running low on these models and a battery running low on other models?
Do other models have a low battery warning feature? Also, if you are measuing for voltage supplied by a source other than the testing device, why do you need a battery anyway?
I don't quite get this recall.

The instrument design seems to allow the meter to remain functional when the charge on the battery is insufficient for proper operation. It should not function at all.
