If the Vista and XP thread piqued your interest in Linux, here is a good article for you.

As Brian and I agree, competition is a necessity for fair markets. I keep both on my PC. With the low cost of hard drives, it's simple to have one for each OS. Decide for yourself.

That should be very useful to me, thanks Gary. I just bought hard copies of Ubuntu and Freespire on eBay for a few bucks (combined), just to check 'em out. As I understand it these OS's can be booted from a cd, but I'm also seriously considering a second hard drive because of the shrinking available space on the existing one. I may go dual to get accustomed to Linux.

I can follow the simple instructions, it just doesn't work for me. It downloads, it says it downloads, but then it isn't there. It's not like I'm the only one.

I can post photos at IN with no problem.

I have an internet server set up for Linux. It is far more affordable than anything from Microsoft. It however is not without a considerable learning curve. There is also not an adequate number of good application programs.
Be careful out there

Russia is considering installing Linux on the computers of every Russian school - they will call it RussianOS. They do not like relying on a US corporation - MS - for technology. Seriously - http://eng.cnews.ru/news/top/i.../266177' target='_blank'>http://eng.cnews.ru/news/top/i...4/266177
