Greetings -

I don't see a lot of boilers and I have never observed one of these before. This was mounted on the ceiling of an unfinished basement in the laundry area. Please help me identify what I am looking at.

Thanks!

That looks like a 'toe-kick' heater thats usually mounted under a kitchen cabinet or bath vanity. It's along the same design as a fan coil unit.

There is probably a little fan that blows the hot air out.

I'm looking for a used one so I can put it in my basement too.

That is a undercabinet heater typically used under kitchen cabinets. In this case it appears your homeowner is trying to heat the basement with it. Was the fan hooked up? not really a problem, just evidence of a diy'er gone wild.
Did it work?
Was there a chair under it, with piles of tabacco on the floor?

It's a kickspace heater installed in a strange location.

Edit I see I'm 2 and 3 minutes late to the dance.

Get yourself a heater core (or evaporator) from a mini van.

I used three automotive radiators as heat exchangers in my last home. The setup worked very well.

Thanks everyone - I assumed that was what was going on....but thanks to this forum.....I'm able to minimize the risk associated with assuming.

Thanks for the quick feedback.
