...........a single-stack pier would have 8" as the least dimension. As shown in the picture, the double-stack pier has 16" as the least dimension.............Greg.

I will concur and go after the silly OSB shims beneath the beams. They were squishing before my eyes.

R606.6.1 Pier cap. Hollow piers shall be capped with 4 inches (102 mm) of solid masonry or concrete or shall have cavities of the top course filled with concrete or grout or other approved methods.
Hollow uncapped piers can be termite highways whose cavities are not visible to annual termite inspector.
