I've done a few hundred post tension slab inspections (pre-pour) and never seen this before. I wasn't at this inspection, the pic is from one of my guys. Anyone got a clue?'m not sure if it's a sensor, or what...

Not sure, but last week I saw something somewhere about sensors that get imbedded in formwork like this so that they can measure the cure-temperatures more accurately and open up concrete roadways quicker. That story was about cheap-grade sensors. Maybe this is used for that purpose?

Chris,
I thought I knew everything and I will, as soon as you find out and report back to me!
It has to "sense" something.

I just read "For Whom the Bell Tolls", which story centers around a bridge demolition, and which made me jump to the same conclusion as Scottpat.

I do believe Mr. Amaral wins the prize:

Now, if they could only invent a sensor for detecting idiot contractors.

Hey, I'm halfway through the same book. Been on a Hemingway kick for a year or two now.

That's the guy with the sensor... I think I saw something about this through my eyelids on TV, but I'm not sure... I gotta check out Hemingway again... Been years. Did a Hardy stint, C.S. Lewis stint... not reading novels as much anymore. Playing the old Strat a hell of lot though... Having a blast..

Hemingway is brilliant. He wrote "The Sun Also Rises" when he was a mere twenty-three years old, and it's by far his best novel. Like Stephen King once said about Hemingway, "Even when he was drunk out of his mind, he was a f**king genius."

Okay, next question.

What good does it do?

I don't know a builder around here that would wait until the concrete has cured properly. It's pour today and start framing tomorrow.

Just curious Chris, is there no moisture barrier? Or is it under the rock?

OK, to continue the hijacking of this thread in favor of war novels, anyone who hasn't read Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five is missing something.

Wow, 30 years ago maybe...
1984 may be one to re-read also, as well as Atlas Shrugged

I just pulled S-5 out the other day. I've read most of them. I'm starting to understand Vonnegut's "Farts and Pall Malls" more now.."So it goes..."

For those of you who don't know, you can pick these and other novels up on Amazon as used paperbacks for a few bucks. A great value.

Also, I'd recommend Ted Bell's "Pirate" and "Assasin".
