  1. I have the x-tend & climb and I really like it. I do have one latch that doesn't always want to lock but I keep an eye on it. I almost oiled mine as well, but I didn't know if would damage it, so luckily I didn't after reading Kurt's response. It is great for getting into attic access hatches in closets and very light. I've had some older folks say they would not use one because it looks dangerous but I haven't had any accidents, yet. I ordered mine from HomeDepot.com for approximately $175. They make a heavy duty model rated to 350 lbs I have the 250 lb rated model.
  2. She's probably faking, then Bam! You're toast. I probably wont be able to sleep tonite after seeing these pictures.
  3. I ran across this today and have never seen one in my area. It is made by Dunham-Bush, Inc. and was labeled on the data plate as Space-Pak Blower Coil Unit manufactured around 1976. Anybody familiar with these. Download Attachment: SpacePak.jpg 172.44 KB
  4. The snake skin I pulled out between the opening of the crawl space and a 5 gallon bucket at the beginning of the inspection. I called the buyer and told him what I found and that I wouldn't inspect the crawl space. I apologized and told him straight up I was deathly afraid of snakes and asked if he wanted to hire someone else, he said no, that he understood. I still never felt right about not inspecting the crawl space although I did document why I didn't inspect it. If I came across a snake in a crawl space I would come out bloody and screaming like a little school girl, (no offense ladies). The other snake was in a basement of an unoccupied home. I don't know what kind of snake either one was. I had the hair on the back of my neck standing up all day. Download Attachment: SnakeSkin.jpg 231.2 KB Download Attachment: snake.jpg 170.46 KB
  5. For what it's worth, I read sometime back that years ago, doctors could not tell if someone with lung cancer developed it because of radon. Now they are able to determine through tissue samples because of certain marks it will leave on lung tissue.
  6. One short story about a future home buyer who wanted to pay at closing and wouldn't take my first "No" as an answer. I told him I was sure I could get him a "Free Inspection". I told him I would call one of our local HI schools and could probably get a student to do it free, so they could get the experience. He didn't care for that answer either. He broke out the checkbook.
  7. I concur to the above. I get asked that occasionally as well and nip that in the bud. I sure hope every HI sticks together on this one.
  8. I never even thought about calling the manufacturer about the 3 lights. Thanks for the info. I guess the next time I see it I'm going to take the time and test it with my meter and see what I get and post it here. If anyone else sees all 3 lights, light up on their pocket tester, could you post it here if you've put a meter on it?
  9. I've started seeing them pop up on new construction here in Georgia lately. I asked a Builders Foreman on a new construction inspection the other day and he said he had no idea what it was. I was assuming it was some sort of tie off but wasn't sure. I've been meaning to ask but never had a good picture like Bob had to offer. Man this place offers a lot of outstanding information. I appreciate what you guys and gals contribute for all of us.
  10. I had the lights show up dim the other day and I had time to break out my multi meter and I had a reading of 85 volts. I had seen that a few times before but never took the time to check it out, now I know. I really wish I would have used my multimeter that day to see what reading I got with all three lights lit up. It is really bugging me.
  11. Has anyone had their electrical outlet tester have all 3 lights, (2 yellows and a red) light up at the same time? What kind of wiring configuration would cause that? Is it dangerous? Any help would be appreciated. ps. I did write it up as a wiring problem and to have an electrician evaluate and repair.
