John Dirks Jr
Not a complaint to the forum but my fault really. I sometimes don't realize that I'm not logged in to TIJ. This forum, unlike some others will let you type a reply when you're not logged in. If it's a lengthy reply it can get lost if you do the wrong thing. I did some testing to find ways to deal with this. Here's what I found. 1) If you hit the back button on your browser you loose the text. 2) If you try and log in at the top of the page you loose your text. 3) If you use the "go back and correct the problem" option and try and log in, you loose your text. The way I found to get myself out of the jam is this: Use the "go back and correct the problem" option and you'll see the text you typed in the window. Copy the text before logging in. Then, after you log in, go back to the post/reply window and past your text back in. To copy text I'm sure you all know the highlight-right click-select copy function. FYI, the same task can be done by hitting Ctrl+A to highlight, Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. I'm just curious. Have any of you lost long posts by attempting to post or reply while not logged in? If so, there's your way out off it. Anyone else figure other ways of dealing with this? Other than making sure you're logged in first of course.
Scottpat
I just never log out of the site. Unless my computer updates and does something, I seldom go through the log-in process.
Marc
I don't think I've logged in more than 3 times since joining 16 months ago. The last time was when I erased my cookies by mistake about 6 or 9 months ago. Marc
Bill Kibbel
Never had a problem as I have never have logged out. Once, maybe twice a year I have to log in, probably because I dropped some cookies somewhere.
Erby
Prevention is worth a pound of cure! Make sure you're logged in (it only takes a glance at the top right corner of the screen) before making ANY posts.
