Mike Lamb
Several of these zone valves had stains like they had past leaks. They may have self-sealed. I don't know. I found four out of 33 that had active leaks and a bunch with stains beneath. If they had leaked, would replacement be in order? Terence McCann
The valve could have leaked, sometime in the past, and had been replaced/rebuilt but the valve motor was reused which is OK. We use to do this all the time. Was there water in the system Mike? Were you able to operate each zone motor?
Mike Lamb
Thanks, Terry. There was water and I fired all the boilers. I did not operate each zone.

Depending on the valve motor you can sometimes test them at the motor. For Barber-Coleman you short terminal 2 or 3 to the casing to get the motor to drive CW or CCW.
