John Dirks Jr
I've not sen these kind of straps before. What is their purpose? Several of the windows had them going across from one side of the frame to the other. Another just had a piece dangling from one side only. Chad Fabry
They hold the windows together during shipping and installation.
Tom Raymond
You know your looking at cheese when the manufacturer can't afford to run the straps around the window. And, if the installers didn't remove the packaging, what else did they forget to do?

ericwlewis
John, is this on a new construction or have occupants been living with these for a few years? I agree with Tom on this one, what else got overlooked by the builder??? Shouldn't, at the very least, the building supervisor caught this? They are part of an addition/renovation of a little 1910 era colonial in Annapolis MD. The "little" colonial is not that little anymore. This house probably had work at various times so I can't tell for sure how long ago the windows were installed. It was a long inspection with a relatively long report. A total of 34 concerns were written up.
allseason
Very often those vinyl replacements have a date code inside the panes.
Bill Kibbel
I have seen these straps. They are several types. Mostly the square and notch type straps are prefered. They help for making the frames fix. Mostly the double angle straps are used for correct dealing. John, If you are from New York City - Why are you advertising a contractor in Calgary Canada? Why is your IP address in India?
