AC Condensate Termination

Mike Lamb

Recommended Posts

The air conditioning condensate drain empties into this plugged floor drain which has a hole drilled in it. If this floor drain has water in the trap is there anything wrong with this? Would it need to be primed trap?

I'm not sure what these wires are all about coming out of the drain. They used to plug into something, perhaps an alarm to warn of drain backup?

What Bill said but do confirm a trap in the condensate line near the air handler/evaporator coil also. It keeps air pressure in the evaporator cabinet from pushing/pulling on the seal in the plumbing trap. It also keeps conditioned air from escaping via the condensate line.
