Mike Lamb
I did not know what these pipes sticking out of the floor were for but now I am thinking buried oil tank? Click to Enlarge 71.68 KB
allseason
Looks to close to the foundation for a 550g. Chicago guys will know that area better but around here the underground tanks are almost always under the sidewalk in front of their multi unit buildings. Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark, etc.
kurt
No, not a tank, looks like an old toilet flange....(?) and the vent?
Bill Kibbel
If that funnel is cast iron, I've seen them on indirect inlets. Used for icebox melt drains, boiler drains and grease interceptors. I see evidence of in-ground tanks 1-2 times each week. Never below basements.
kurt
Never below basements. Same here. Never seen one below a basement floor. Ever. A gas tank under a garage floor once. Since it's right next to the water service, is it the old tile access "buffalo box", for the old water shut off?
