Jim Baird
Did not know before that Eastern phoebe (flycatcher) would do this...apparently to a tree frog. This hung by some kind of thread from a phoebe nest. Thought they were insect eaters only. Click to Enlarge 49.04 KB
John Kogel
Jim, that is the pheobe that is hanging there I think. No frogs in sight. [] Looks like it may have been a young'un that didn't make it.
hausdok
I agree with John,...unless of course you have frogs with talons in your neck of the woods. OT - OF!!! M.
Jim Baird
Haha. You might be right, but then, birds are just feathered reptiles anyway. I did not get my face that close, but the arc of the vertebrae made me think it was a frog's mouth. Makes me feel better about phoebes, which are supposed to catch bugs for us just like the frogs. Now I think this phoebe was poisoned during the rehab of this house in the course of flipping. We've had phoebes at our place, here and there, for a long time.
