Erby Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 An elderly friend passed away. 90 something, good life.n A time that comes to us all sooner or later. Wife wants to play a particular song at the funeral in the next day or two. She can't remember much about it other than: "There is a song that was always the last song played at each performance by a band in the 1940's or 1950's and she thinks it was called Home Sweet Home". I can't find anything like that. Any buffs have an idea or suggestion.
Bill Kibbel Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 It's probably the very old traditional folk song by that name, probably from the early to mid 19th century. I'm sure it's been performed by many bands since. I wouldn't know how to find the particular band or rendition she remembers though.
Robert Jones Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Try this Erby... http://upchucky.com/OldiesTimeMachine.html
Erby Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 Yeah, I'm not having much luck. Have to get a little bit more info. Genre, remembered lyrics, sex of band members, etc. That's just all the info I had tonight though. Thanks for the info. I'll ask more tomorrow.
rkenney Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 The only one I recall is the Spaniels who ended with "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight."

John Kogel Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home"? There's No Place like Home. Just a guess.
