Robert E Lee
A neighbor was interested in knowing if his furnace has an AC or DC blower motor, it is a 12 year old Carrier model #58MVP060-F-15-114. I can't seem to find any info going by the model #. Help would be appreciated.
Marc
Carrier Information on ICM motor ECM motors In short, it's a three phase ac synchronous motor with permanent magnets on the rotor (no coils). Solid state circuitry first rectifies single phase power to DC then converts it variable frequency three phase power to run the motor. I have one myself that went bad last week. Cost $400 for new one plus $50 shipping. My local dealer didn't have any and couldn't find one. The usual PSC (permanent split capacitor) motors are about 1/4 that much cost. Motor performs very well though. Mine was only about 6 years old. Marc
