John Kogel
Yes this time, but not always. The plywood will hold that roof together,... but how well is the plywood nailed? Can't say.

Jim Katen
Is it OK to splice ridge boards. This one is in a carport like area. Click to Enlarge 33.37 KB As long as the plywood joints are staggered, you don't even need the ridge board.
mjr6550
Is it OK to splice ridge boards. This one is in a carport like area. Click to Enlarge 33.37 KB As others have said, yes. I will add that this assumes the ridge board is not a ridge beam (a 2x is almost never big enough to be a ridge beam). This assumes that ceiling joists are present (i assume that the four 1x board are partially supporting ceiling joists. When ceiling joists are present and properly installed then the ridge if not structural. No ceiling joists-then ridge beam is needed unless other suitable ties are present. Brandon Whitmore
06 525 KTM. Yee ha. That's a great motor/ bike. Currently, I ride a KTM 300exc for my offroad fun, but have the 380mxc w/ a sand tire. Be safe out there, but not too safe[]
pmb
I usually do a 3/4"plywood gusset over the splice, I know it is not needed, but nobody ever asks the question then.
