hoosier inspector
I inspected what was the largest flue lining I've encountered. Santa could actually come down this one. I didn't measure but I can estimate 18-20" square opening.Does anyone have info on flue sizes and their affect on drafting for wood burning fireplaces? mjr6550
The typical requirement is that the flue area be 1/10th of the firebox opening area (1/12th if the flue is round). A larger flue would be better than smaller, but I suppose there are limits to that.
hoosier inspector
This makes sense, the fireplace is open on 3 sides. I was concerned with high winds creating havoc during a fire. But it is obvious it had been used with no evidence of roll out, so I didn't comment. Thank you for your response.

hoosier inspector
The damper looks like a pain to operate. Good exercise though. I found some good info while surfing... Fireplace/ flue info I must have been sleeping during this class. I don't recall anything about flue size ratios.[:-dunce]
