gtblum
Type M copper lines to the laundry area, in a 13 year old, dry basement. Is this about to become a sprinkler system? ghentjr
Some kind of electrical issue eating out the zinc? Low ph doing the same thing? Yes, it will probably be a sprinkler soon.
kurt
Type M thinwall? Yeah, probably.
Marc
Isn't type M allowed? Marc
kurt
Sure it's allowed. It's just really thin and insubstantial. It can work fine. Or not. If you're serious with your copper, it's K or L.
Jim Katen
If the corrosion is originating on the outside of the pipe, it's probably just superficial. If the corrosion is working its way out from the inside, it's toast. To find out, swipe a green Scotch Brite pad over it. If the corrosion is coming from the outside, it' burnish up nice & pretty. If the corrosion is coming from the inside, you'll have a wet Scotch Brite pad.
