mattkearney
Howdy, New construction, looks like the builder used a non typical anchor to attach the support post to the concrete footing. Does this work? Is there a specific anchor I should ask to be used in this condition? Marc
Heh heh, that's home made. Not a listed use of that connector. Try this one: Post Base Marc
Erby
Hey, at least he got the asphalt in there!
mjr6550
It would be helpful to see a bit more of the columns. That is probably not a big deal. I'd be a bit more concerned that one column does not bear fully on the concrete pier.
Brandon Whitmore
Is there a requirement to anchor the posts to the pier pads now?
Jim Katen
Is there a requirement to anchor the posts to the pier pads now? For some time there's been a requirement to provide lateral restraint at the bottom of columns that are more than 48 inches high. (407.3) The 2014 changes don't say anything about this, but I have been seeing all posts restrained at the bottom in new construction for the last several months. I'm not sure what's driving it. May be local amendments. Georgia has so many that I am constantly researching the changes.
