Mike Lamb
I have a circulating boiler on a quad level home with four zone valves. The pressure gauge read 24 psi. Would this be considered too high for a multilevel heating system? The PRV is rated at 30 psi.
kurt
Not necessarily. Not sure why they need the higher pressure, but I find them occasionally in the 22-24 range, usually on multi-level buildings with lots of zones.
mjr6550
If the boiler is in a basement and there are 4 levels above, then the pressure will be close to 20 psi at a minimum. Pressure gauges are also probably not very accurate. As long as it does not creep up towards 30 psi I would not be concerned.
kurt
Yeah, I'd expect at least 20, maybe 22. 24 isn't surprising.
Charlie R
I just did two different homes this week with the same boiler set-up - multiple zones, one was two floors, one three. Both boilers were running in the low 20s. I ran all the zones for about an hour, pressure never really fluctuated. All's good.
