Light switch quality decline

Recommended Posts

Any one here noticed a decline in quality of ordinary residential light switches?

In an outbuilding I have had to replace ordinary 15 amp switches more than once.

They are rated now for frequency of use.

Has their design become so refined that their obsolescence is measured and predicted by number of flips?

I can't say I've noticed a decline. Cheap, bulk switches have been crappy since the 1970s - especially Decora switches, which seem to come out of the box defective about 10% of the time.

What do you expect for 72 cents each?

Actually, I'm amazed that they can produce something like that (in the USA, no less) for that price and have it work as well as it does.
