Jim Morrison Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 (edited) My old friend and HI mentor, Arnie Green, owned an oil heating business for more than 30 years before retiring and becoming a home inspector in the mid-1980s. Somewhere along the line he developed a habit of prying the tags off the burners and boilers he replaced and tossing them into a box in his garage and the end of the day. One of his adult kids found the box and had them framed. Most inspectors won't have ever come across most of this equipment. Anyway, I'm posting it here because the denizens of TIJ are the only people I know who could appreciate this kind of art. Hope you're all keeping well. Edited June 13 by Jim Morrison clarity 2
Bill Kibbel Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 That's an amazing collection. Nice way to honor Dad and his career. A few of the brands were common here. I'm guessing most of those were only distributed throughout Mass. or New England.
Jim Morrison Posted June 16 Author Report Posted June 16 Yes, many local brands, including Arnie's own Green Bros. brand. I once saw an actual Timken oil burner, but unfortunately it was not in service. It was sitting beneath a workbench beside the snowman it had presumably been removed from. Besides Arnie and his pal Mel Chalfen, I've never met another inspector who has seen an active Timken in service. If any other HI has seen one in the wild, I'd love to hear more about it.
Rob Amaral Posted July 6 Report Posted July 6 I have indeed found a TIMKEN 'in service' over these past years Jimmy... more than one!
