cyndyt99
is it beneficial to have both insulation and radiant barrier done?
inspector57
It depends on the situation, but yes there should be both insulation and a radiant barrier if a radiant barrier is used at all. The correct answer is to run the numbers for pay-back to make an informed decision. Try this impartial web site for a good overview. http://www.ornl.gov/sci/roofs+walls/radiant/index.html

Nolan Kienitz
Depending upon the attic structure and access installing radiant barrier under the roof decking (between the rafters) is very easy/simple. I did my attic (~2000 s.f. home) in a single-story home about a year ago. I used Polar Ply ( http://www.polar-ply.com/ ) and spent only about $300 for the product. BTW - I see you are in Katy and you can get the product from the regional Polar-Ply offices/warehouse in Spring near Beltway 8 and Hwy 290.
