Small chains passed through each tube. You could adjust the position of each chain by slipping a link vertically into each notch. The chains controlled ? ? ? It depends on where the picture was taken. Out here, the first chain would have controlled the feed rate of the auger on a sawdust furnace. The second chain might have controlled the damper?
