rubin
I have a contractor with six town-home units, which all have through the roof clothes dryer exhausts. I am attempting to locate code compliant (2000 International Mechanical Code) clothes dryer duct terminations listed for through the roof installations. Does anyone have a link to a site that could help? Thanks

AHI in AR
Personally, I hate vertical dryer vents. They have too many factors working against them to make them a good idea. Most importantly, when the dryer exhaust pressure ceases, any suspended lint will settle back down to clog the vent. Even if Joe Homeowner knows enough to clean the vent -- and that's doubtful -- it's not easy to do. If at all possible, I would recommend rerouting the vents on future projects. darinr
I don't know how many of those I've cleared in the past. Exactly as said, these are notorious for getting plugged up. Code compliant? Most likely. Poor design? Nuff said.
