Too easy to over fuse with the old Edison base style fuses (not to mention that their old and everything deserves retirement - even me). kurt Posted July 2, 2009 Report Share Posted July 2, 2009 I still think there's nothing inherently wrong with a fuse panel if it's equipped with Type S adapters, and there's a satisfactory number of circuits available for the house and it's equipment. Fuses work. They don't malfunction. But, most houses need more circuits than the old fuse panels supplied; my usual call is to tell folks to replace it, but not because of the single fact of fuses. It's usually a combination of factors. On point, I'm not aware of anything wrong with Federal fuse boxes.
