blazenut
I was at a house today with a 200 amp service cable that went to one of two meters. Out of that meter went a 100 amp line to the main panel with its own 100 amp main shutoff. The other line coming out of the meter was for an off peak meter for the water heater at 30 amps. What comments, if any, would you make about this set up?
gregzoll
Suggest they get an Electrician to inspect, due to does not appear to be in best interest. Some things just make you scratch your head and scream WTF.
Jim Morrison
I'm not sure I understand the problem. If I'm inferring what you're trying to say correctly, it sounds just fine to me. Can you restate the size of the SEC, the meter ratings, and the size of the cables coming from the meters, and the breakers?
Jim Katen
I was at a house today with a 200 amp service cable What does that mean? What's a "200-amp service cable"? What size and material was the cable? that went to one of two meters. Out of that meter went a 100 amp line to the main panel with its own 100 amp main shutoff. What kind of "100-amp line"? Was was the size and material? Where was the "main panel" in relation to everything else? The other line coming out of the meter was for an off peak meter for the water heater at 30 amps. What was 30 amps? The meter? The water heater? A breaker that you haven't mentioned? The conductors? Where was the second meter in relation to the first? Was there a disconnect at this meter? What comments, if any, would you make about this set up? I can't say until I understand what you're trying to describe. - Jim Katen, Oregon
