Hello All, I've been lurking on this site for a while, but I finally signed up to speak with everyone. I have been programming for a decade or so, and making inspections software for the past several years. I used to write HUD inspection software and it was relatively easy because HUD says this is what needs to be checked, this is the statuses, etc, etc. I'm working for myself now and I'm thinking of taking when I know about HUD inspections and moving into Home Inspections. I wonder if someone could help me understand what I would need to break into the market. I've been downloading and evaluating software from tons of sites, but they are all so different. Some are truly terrible. I don't mind having so many competitors when I am sure I can create a better product, but I don't know the market. What makes good inspections software? What kind of reports need to be produced? How many people out there use handhelds? I'm looking for some feedback from users like Kurt, Scottpat, or Admin who seem to have hundreds of really informed posts. Of course I would love to hear what everyone else thinks too. Thanks everyone! - Russ russryba@gmail.com
