  1. My house is covered in a standard stucco finish and I would like to add some stone accents to a section of the house which is protected under an overhanging roof. This section has a poured reinforced concrete steps with appropriate support pillars going beneath the frost line. This means there is plenty of support for the stone work which is the 4" cut stone similar to a std full brick veneer. My question is: Can I motar my stones against the stucco without having to put in the std 1 inch gap for water drainage. I have been told that the stucco itself would be self draining and therefore don't need a drainage gap. I plan on installing some type of connection between the wall joists and the stone work as it will be 9' tall. Thanks Wilson
