I have a main panel and sub panel in my attached garage. On the other side of the wall is a shower enclosure, directly behind both panel. Is there a code against this? It has been this way since the house was built about 12 yeras ago. I was going to feed off one of these panels for a detached garage and when I looked at the panel I realized the shower enclosure was directly behind it. I wondered how safe it was.

I am planning on mounting lights to the outside of my corregated metal garage. I had planned on using white aluminum wet location boxes that have two mounting ears that screw directly to the metal and running pvc conduit (1/2 inch) throught the metal siding into the back of the box opening. Then running my NM wire into that conduit. I am hoping this gives the best weathertight seal. Is it allowable to have pvc go into a metal box? Also, I planned on drilling the closest as I can the exact size hole of the conduit in the metal to eliminate a possible leak and using silicone. If I have to use a threaded fitting into the back of the housing, wont that size be impossible to duplicate? Is there a better way to do this?

I planned to use a motion detector with the two flood lights centered above my garage door. I started cutting thinking I would put a plastic box behind the metal siding inside the garage. However, being centered it is over a raised rib where two panels meet and it looks like I made a mess. It was hard to cut and I just stopped. Any ideas on how to properly mount this light and make it look ok and not leak?

is it ok to mount upside down a panel if the breakers are horizontal not vertice? That would make the main breaker on the bottom left.

It is a General Electric. SO in English, this thing is basically saying to not use a breaker more than 150 amps?

My panel says not to instal more than 150 amps on one "stab". Is a "stab" just a circuit breaker spot?

Will you provide me with a code cite so I can read into this further.... What is UF or MC that I shopuld have used? So if I leave no interror walls on my garage are the plastic boxes ok or not?

Just outlet boxes and wall switches. Where there is no interior wall. Just wall studs. "Like a workshop detached building"

I live out in the country and am building a garage/shop. (detached.) I took some pictures of my wiring project and wanted some helpful suggestions. I am using a 100 amp subpanel. If it looks funny, I mounted it upside down. The instructions said to mount it this way if the panel was going to be bottom fed. (WHich this one is). Do cables using stackers have to be derated?

If I run 3 circuits to my light switch and have to use those "stackers" up the stud. Does the cable have to be derated?

These are t8 flourescent (shop lights) 4 feet wide. Hang from a small chain. They have a plug and cord attached. I was going to wire outlets in the ceiling above each light to "plug in" the light. Of course the outlets would be wired to a swtich so they can be turned off and on. Someone told me all outlets, even those in the ceiling need GFCI protection. SO I planned on running a 20 amp GFCI breaker to all 11 outlets. (One of the outlets is for a garage door opener, the rest are for lights. Is it some type of violation or safety problem if all the available lighting is on a GFCI circuit? (Where if the circuit trips, there is no available light?)

I am using T8 "shop lights in the ceilign of my detached garage. ABout10 of them. They are the type with a cord and plug. I am putting an outlet for each light in the ceilign and planed on having everythign protected by a 20 amp GFCI breaker. Will the inspector say that that is a problem because if the breaker trips, I will have no lights? I have the back 6 lights installed, I could still buy the 4 remaining in a non plug in variety and wire to a separate non GFCI circuit. To be honest I currently have the six lights I have installed running on an extension cord to my GFCI outlet at the house and it has never triped the GFCI. I need the plug in lights so I can work in there at night and to be honest they are pretty handy to move around. They are also cheaper than the non corded types.

I am wiring my detached garage and was wondering if any of you could look at pictures and offer advice? It is a 30x30. I put in a 100 amp sub panel. I have 11 outlets on one circuit.
