    Yep, I thought that was a bad idea when I moved into a house that had 2 adjoining closets with a breaker box in the middle with the wires visible. Landlord said it was okay........until it started smoking one day, the first thing to catch fire were the clothes hanging in there. I never knew a house could burn that fast

    I installed the dishwasher 6 months ago. Between all the kids leaning on the door, the bracket that secured it to the countertop has broke, so the dishwasher moves freely in the space. It stopped working so I checked and the ground aluminum bare wire came loose from the screw and the set of black/tan wire are melted thru the cap. I am assuming it overheated since the ground came loose and was touching these wires. Not sure what to do from here. I usually do not fool with electrical but I had installed several before with no problem. The other set of black'white wires are fine.
