Hi Guys, Well, I start my new HI career next Wednesday. I'm not brave enough to go it alone so I will be working for a national company. I want the benefit of working with an experienced company that I've personally heard several Realtors say "I only use you guys because the rest don't take the time to do a good inspection". Plus, I like the peace of mind of having a "safety net" as I'm just starting out. I hear too many folks getting sued, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I want to learn how to do my new career the right way. Maybe after a few years, and several hundred inspections under my belt, I may venture out on my own. I've worked for 29 years, always a steady paycheck, so this is risky enough for right now.

I had PB piping (tube?) in my house. (house was a tract home, built in 1990) A plumber friend of mine said to get that "time-bomb" out of my house while there is still money in the class action suit. I did, and now we sleep better at night.[] I must admit, the copper pipes are much louder than the PB. Recently I had a couple of water valves fail in my house. I checked the water pressure and the city jacked it up over 100 psi. Again, I'm happy that the PB wasn't in the walls to fail. And yes, I did have a regulator installed.

Yes. Reverse Osmosis. We see these a lot in my area due to the bad tasting city water we have. Although we do not inspect the R/O units, we do need to report on cross connections. Some R/O units use 4 gallons of water to make one gallon of purified "R/O" water. The wasted water must be drained off. Typically this involves placing a saddle clamp on the kitchen sink's drain line. I'm asking any Plumbing experts out there "what is allowed and what is not allowed in this application"? i.e. I've seen the R/O drain line installed down stream from the P-Trap, which I feel is a cross connection. Yes, No?

What is allowed/not allowed under the kitchen sink when RO units are installed? Specifically, RO drain connections becoming a "cross connection". Thank you in advance for your help on this subject.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Just a clarification. I didn't say I needed to filter CO gases. A respiratory tech that was at one of my inspections did work with NASCAR drivers, and cautioned me about getting a "cheap" mask that doesn't clear your "exhaled" breaths out (CO) completely. He found a lot of masks (used for longer than I would ever use during an inspection) can build up unwanted gases because they do not easily allow you to get all your exhaled breaths out of the mask. The tech suggested I ask experts in the inspection field. I'll look for the masks that you guys suggested. thanks again!

I'm a newbie working on my parallel inspections in the Phoenix area. As I build my assortment of tools, I'd like to ask you veterans about RESPIRATORS. My goal is to avoid illness from molds, dust, fiberglass, etc., but also avoid dangers from cheap equipment that can build up carbon monoxide. Any suggestions would be appreciated. One suggestion was to get one at Sears, but I don’t know what to look for.[:-crazy] Thanks!
