  1. marc, Correct about Led knowledge - As english is my third language - I should apologize if syntax or spelling errors hampered content delivery - What skills I lack in written communication ,I make up for in SSL acumen . Sorry if my in-elegance with english prevented you or anyone from taking away my meaning or advice- curious do most N amer - home inspections evaluate kWh usage as it pertains to current lighting paradigms? Is sound advice regarding the benefits of the use of SSL on the radar of those who council bldg owners how to have better systems within their bldgs whether home or commercial?
  2. The answer is generally -FALSE, whether well known substandard lines like ;feit or Lights of America,-- or Philips or Lsg all of the SSL YOU WILL SEE IS SUBSTANDARD;The objective science behind this is simple None mentioned above use AC/leds - why does that matter-HEAT MGMT Leds that take Ac line voltage and run it through a DC power source are apt to have failures. Whether its heat bubbling phosphors resulting in color shift or failure of ANY other components- Any knowlegable SSL pro knows using products with fins - is like being a proponent of using a brick style cell phone, instead of a smart phone. Good ,usable information regarding SSL is / or should be a component of a detailed LIGHT AUDIT/ and solution pkg regarding kWh reductions - It is a home inspection item often overlooked - how many dollars to get the lighting right. Learn about what constitutes quality SSL - to be able to recommend whats worth having- It ain't incandescents or CFLs those were the lights from a soon to be bygone era/ Good - riddance - SSLPro
  3. SSL is Solid State Lighting- your dates are correct but starting in late 2011 supply houses+ distributors will be working with a ticking clock, once their buying starts reduced numbers of the old and increasing % of SSL on shelves will start tipping the balance ( ON MERIT)Some adapt quicker then others. As to the use of Led lamps in Freezers/ Refrigerators - I've been using a Led bulb in my fridge for years, why would any logical person put a heat producing light -in a box you want to keep cool, Leds don't like heat and so I only have the 2 oven bulbs left - Thats a minor issue relative to SSL usage
  4. Hey Folks, I was wondering how many perform lighting audits as a subset? With the ban on incandescent lights 17 months away - I wonder how many are knowlegable regarding this change or even aware. Could you as an energy loss "expert" converse about what constitutes a quality SSL product - could you discern what makes a GREAT Led vs the type of thing seen at a big box store? While this may not be on everyones radar- as a solution provider- I'm glad I can speak with a high level of knowledge, there is a definite advantage to being aware of what is a growing area and not appearing oblivious, after all its the 21st century why would anyone be using Cfls or incandescents ? - Just asking- SSLPro
