  1. The origional article sounds like a commercial in the form of a press release. Since most print media will not print such promotions they also look to be on the nice side of builders and agents who BUY lots of ads. Here to advertize in the column inches is very expensive. The ad budget would have to be much higher. The point of the posted article restates what I have been saying for years so I will add this ya ya ya, ta ta, ta ta etc.
  2. It's all Hollywood scripting and has little basis in reality. What the public doesn't know is the stuff they leave out and all the legal problems. That also include the ethical issues which might be presented on Court TV or Law and Order / CSI. (just joking), Actually inspecting houses is very basic boring stuff so the TV producers work on a timeline to fit the DRAMA (the primary ingrediant) into the allowed framework complete with lots of commercials. These shows are about the people/characters not the property conditions. You can put the audience to sleep quoting code and SOP.
  3. I wondered about the same thing Kurt. It would make sense to become educated with a BS in architechure or engineering. Then a Mastere of either, then a Doctorate of Building Science if such a thing exists. Building Science degrees even on the BS level are very rare, because they are too limiting. A year ago I spoke to an inspector who said that he had a docturate. He may have had a docturate in something like religion or some other arts area. I didn't press the point since I didn't want to embaress him.
  4. I don't blame the Brits for being worried, especially if the inspectors there are no better trained and educated than they are here in the good ole USA. There are way too many "cowboys" in the business.
