  1. I am just getting through my first year in buisness. Mid November bookings were down and December has been dismal. I am towards the bottom of the pecking order here with plenty of vetrans in the area. I am hoping to survive the culling of the herd. We have plenty of newbies offering sub $200 dollar inspections that probably won't make it through the winter. I am going to resist the temptation of the dark side. Looking forward to when my referral base is built up enough to keep the phone ringing. Working on a direct mail campaign to hopefully jump start spring sales. 2. Hi Eric, Just some otherthings I have run into for these problems. 1. Window treatments - blinds, curtains, shades this restricts the warm are from getting to the window pain making the surface colder and thus more apt to have condensation. 2. Heat Register Either not loacted under window or being blocked by furniture or restriced by damper. 3. Window direction Window may have northerly facing making the glass a bit cooler the the other Houses are very dynamic and these problems rarely are a simple one hit solution although I have seen something as simple as a teddy bear against an exterior wall insulate the heat away from the wall which led to mold growth on the wall behind the bear. 3. Supervisor to laborer, "Son go take this here aluminum ladder and go prop those wires up over there so the truck can get under them, and be careful not to bend my ******** ladder will ya! Wow amazing what brain the brain power there must have been. Carl
  4. Good Afternoon all, During by construction days we always used 1/4" per foot as minimum for the movement of water. As it pertains to municipal code there was none although a negatively pitched deck would give you just as much trouble as soil would. The important thing is really that ledger board flashing is used and it is placed on the ledger board. So many times I see amatures place this on top of the deck boards which does nothing for water infiltration at the union of rim joist and the ledger board.
