  1. There should be gussets joining the opposing rafters when framed without a ridge. Scott
  2. Can you provide IRC or NEC references supporting your position? My bad, just reviewed 2008 NEC and these exemptions have been removed
  3. Actually receptacles that are not readily accessible(requiring a ladder) and dedicated receptacles in garages do not have to be GFCI.
  4. We just finished a trex deck this week, and with the 1 1/2 x 5 1/2 decking you can go with joists 24" on center. I was a little surprised also that the deck's plans called for 24" centers, but the decking felt fine. Scott
  5. when you look at how the siding ends you're probably right.
  6. I agree wit the strenth, but with one that close to the roof there is not much room for the brace.
  7. with a lookout that close to the roof it should be tied to the next rafter back.
  8. only a picture from the inside could tell us what is happening.
  9. We use the same details to hang our varge rafters here in california. I guess if you have snow loads then you might need something stronger, but it is standard where I live.
