  1. Apologies if you thought I was just trying to "drop a link." I actually don't know that much about termites and didn't know if termites could live in an area with mold or not which is why I asked. Besides, if I just wanted to drop a link, I could pay someone else a bit of cash to do 1000's of them for me instead of taking time to do a few posts here and there. I know now not to ask questions on this forum though, so I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.
  2. We have a fairly high water-table, so moisture, fungal growth, wood decay and termites are all issues here in both basements and crawl spaces. Most builders here won't build homes on basements, and a lot of the old homes on basements do leak. Are there any mold issues to go along with the termites? With a lot of moisture it wouldnt surprise me which is why i was asking.
  3. At first i was going to say that they were mud dobbers. We have them down in the south on the east coast, and they make mud tubes similar to these. They are a type of bee I'm guessing, but I have never seen them not attached to a wall and just free hanging like that. I'm not sure what they are.
  4. Wow that is pretty neat. Thanks for taking the pictures so we knew exactly what you were talking about!
  5. Yeah this stuff was a very dark syrupy mixture. I still have about an 1/8th of a bottle left. I was just trying to find some before I ran out. I'm not sure if this stuff has boric acid in it or not, especially after hearing that you didn't have any luck with it when you tried it. The label has work off of this bottle so I can't be 100% sure that there isn't any boric acid in it. The stuff works like a charm though. Within usually about 3 hours there are no more ants crawling around. Sounds like "Terro" ant poison. I get it at the grocery store around here. But I'm pretty sure Terro is clear, though. Jim
  6. I don't know the stuff you're talking about, but you can make something very similar with corn syrup and boric acid. The trick is to find the right ratio. Too much boric acid and the ants will either reject it or die before they make it back to the nest. Also, instead of putting it on a piece of paper where anything can eat it, cut a plastic drinking straw into 1" or 2" lengths and place a drop or two inside the straw. That'll limit the kind of critters that can get to the bait. Would that mixture causes it to be a dark color? Because that may be what this was. I know its a pretty old bottle though. I usually used the paper because I don't have any pets or any small children that can get into it. Thanks for the info, I will definitely look more into that mixture.
  7. I wasn't aware that ants changed form around the same time that certifications expire lol. I do have an ant related question though. My dad used to have this stuff for sugar ants. It was a dark sticky and very thick liquid that came in a glass bottle. You put a drop on a piece of paper and the sugar ants would carry it back and kill the whole nest. I have been trying to find this stuff, but I'm not sure if they even make it anymore. Figured you may know what I'm talking about and if I'm wasting my time looking for this stuff. Thanks ahead of time!
