  1. Say the GFCI is in a bathroom on the first of two outlets, but the light is downstream. Is that bad? Or just not preferred? Or both? Thanks!
  2. It would seem like a good idea to recommend pulling a permit if there is noticeable work done. However, as someone earlier mentioned, where do you drawn the line on providing helpful info to the client? Do you recommend they contact the local water company to check the quality of water so they know if they need a purifier? Do you give them info on loans so they do not make a bad decision on a home loan? Do you recommend Radon, Termite, Lead Paint tests? Just curious, as all of these could be beneficial.
  3. This is awesome!!! I love learning tips like these... Small roofing problem = mastic Large roofing problem = blue tarp, and I bet this will make roof replacements a lot easier... Just gotta remember to paint the front door to match so it doesn't look out of place.[:-paperba
  4. While I try to be green myself, I am not sold that it should be mandatory for these audits. If you rent your home you have to get one for your tenant... I do not agree with this. If I own the home, I do it once. Then the only time I should have to do it again is when/if I sell. I guess the upshot is it gives HI's more revenue. The downside to that is in order to do an effective home energy audit, you need to do a blower door test. Well this equipment costs about $4k. So with good, comes bad.
  5. I sort of agree with what Bruce said - OT-OF. But, generally I am not a fan of monopolistic situations. Unless I'm in charge of it. And that ain't gonna happen. So let's combine all the organizations into 2 groups: Two Teams - One Fight. Doubt that will happen either. But I would hope that all/most of the existing organizations should at least be working together for legislation purposes. And some sort of mutually acceptable SOPs. Just my green and naive $0.02...
  6. I don't mean to sound new, can't help it, but wouldn't this be a good thing?
  7. Similar to this one, where it might be a win-able case... http://abajournal.com/news/wis_high_cou ... _basement/
  8. The link says it goes back 5 years, is that enough time?
  9. Thank you for sharing! That is an awesome story!!!
  10. May each color represents the use. Blue - bathrooms, pool, spa (although they aren't GFCIs) Green - family room, living room red - kitchen or security yellow - bedrooms
  11. For anyone interested, Amazon.com has TK11's for $75 (with free shipping).
  12. Hello, I just found this and have an idea. Someone previously said they get the seller's info and send them a couple of cards and suggest they have the home inspected. What if you take that and go further with it? Send the seller a couple of cards and let them know why you think it is a good idea for them to get the inspection on the house they are selling. Then ask them to keep you in mind for when they buy their next home. Twice the marketing for the same cost and effort. Work smart not hard... Jeremy
