fyrmnk
Hi all, I was working on a BP for no main ground in a panel. I know one should be installed, but I would like to have all the answers as to why when I'm asked. What all hazards can appear without one? Can stray voltage occur on grounded appliances plugged into a 3 prong outlet if there's no service ground? Thanks. Kevin
a46geo
Kevin, I think that you are asking for more information than can be (practically) posted here. For immediate answers, do a google search "electrical ground" or something like that. For a little more, there are several good books on electrical knowledge needed for an inspector. Last, but certainly not least, a good class on the subject. George
billygoat22
Grounding is for safety. I would recommend the book "practical electrical wiring" It has a good explanation on grounding, which you could show a homeowner and they would get the idea.
