Inspectorjoe Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 I'm hoping these links will work. They are from a Facebook page. I've always been fascinated by firefighting - the logistics, the physics and the awe-inspiring bravery that is often demonstrated. In 1981, I decided to attempt to become a firefighter. I thought I bombed on the civil service test, because everyone except me finished with time to spare. There were about 10 questions that I had no idea how to answer. It turned out that I had the second highest score. I went through interviews with the selection committee, a physical, physical agility and strength tests, and finally an eye test. I failed the eye test. This album from 2000, contains amazing pictures of firefighters working on roofs with flames around them, coming up from below. If I hadn't failed the eye test and made it into the department, I might have been one of those men. I was 14 at the time of this fire. The pictures are incredible.
