vbjack
Does anyone have a reference to a source for inspecting wood timber piling foundations? I'm familiar with the new FEMA 550, foundation manual. I'm looking for a higher source to reference on existing wood timber piling foundations. I've been unsucessful in my search so far - does anyone have any information? Thanks, Jack
hausdok
Well, I don't know how much help it will be, but go to the downloads section here on TIJ and check out FM 5-426, the army carpentry manual. They still teach construction of pile foundations in the Army and Chapter 11 of that manual is all about warves and pilings. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! fqp25
I don't know if this manual from the Timber Piling Council would help you or not. There is some helpful info there anyway, especially about foundation design, and stress values for different species of timber. http://www.timberpilingcouncil.org/manu ... manual.pdf
