bmones
If there are 1x2's along the rakes, do they still need drip edge, or does the 1x2's serve as the drip edge. Thanks
hausdok
Hi, The 1 x 2 only increases the distance that water has to move to reach the actual house. If it's a nice neat install, the water will hit the 1 x 2 and run down the face of the 1 x 2 and drip away without reaching the house. If it's a sloppy install, water is just as likely to continue moving until it hits the house. Drip edging is cheap insurance; I don't understand why anyone would omit it. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Jim Morrison
Rake edge flashing, whether required or not, is worth the cost (in money and effort) to install, period. It's simply part of every 'first class' installation.

StevenT
I agree wholeheartedly that drip edge is the way to go. It's cheap and easy to install... when installed prior to the roofing, it can be a pain to retrofit. It amazes me how often... almost always... it's left off. Even on the most expensive homes.
