  1. Bonnie, I just want to follow through - I don't know Mr.Long. He could very well be a good guy. I always made sure to let my kids know when they did a bad thing, that did not make them bad people. I think Mike did a bad thing - that doesn't make him a bad person.
  2. I'm right there with you on that, Charlie.
  3. You should look for a label on the panel that says, "Suitable For Use Only As Service Equipment" Those panels have no separate jumper. (Yours doesn't look like one of those, but you should check.) ALSO: Don't I see a greenid="green"> bonding screw on the left terminal, just above the lower ground?
  4. I agree, Brian. The company will be well worth the dinner. BTW, it was nice to see Manning win a Super Bowl ring wasn't it?? I felt so good for Archie after all those great years he put into the Saints.
  5. Mine too, Les.
  6. So long as there is no soffit venting (like you say) or an openable window within 10 feet horizontal and 2 feet vertical, it looks fine to me.
  7. Thanks Darren. Still, seems dumb.
  8. Yes, I see it all the time, and I'm just down the road from you and Chad.
  9. Hey Frank, What Chad said is more important than you might think. Even on the phone, a smile will help you speak more confidently and friendly. Try it now - put on a big frown and try to say something positive. Just feels goofy!
  10. Hi Michael F., Welcome to our little hangout. We come here to learn. You appear to have all the answers - cool. I read several of the abstracts based on the search you recommended. What I found shows that Rn is known to cause lung cancer. Nobody here denied that. I could not find in any of the abstracts an indication that we know correct action levels. Could you do me (us) a favor and specify a particular paper that provides this information? That would be helpful. Thanks.
  11. Thanks Neal, Buffalo is mostly old. They were smart enough NOT to do that in 1900. Maybe I'll see one this year. Anything special about it? Attic ventilation is dual purpose in that case. Anything else?
  12. Ah, the 'honest' approach. Works for me.
  13. Frank, I use Dr. Scholl's for mouthwash, so don't worry about that. Thanks to Mike and the great people who visit here, there is no problem with mutual respect. Do whatever works for you. I've never scripted a conversation, the reason being that the other person often does not stick to the script and then I'm SOL. (BTW, that's segue.) Since you care, you will be successful. We are all pulling for you.
  14. Hi Neal, I spent 3 years of high school in East Brunswick and have lived in Rochester/Buffalo for many years. I'm not doubting you, but I have never seen a furnace anywhere but the basement (or 1st floor if no basement - rare) in this part of the country. Do you really see that? I can't see it as anything but, well, dumb - and for the reasons you state.
  15. Frank, I've never had to explain my services, so I don't have a sentence. Sounds like you may have some anxiety issues. Relax, and stop stuffing your mouth. If you can't explain your services, then you really don't understand them yourself. What experience/knowledge do you have? That's what you offer. But like I said, you shouldn't need to explain. My typical daily conversation goes something like: ring, ring, "Ounce of Prevention, may I help you?" (Client) "Yes, I'm buying a house and need..." Now I grab a form I made for myself and start asking questions and filling in the blanks. "When do you need the inspection?" "What type of home?" "How old is the home?" "Is the home occupied?" "Are utilities on?" "Is there a well or septic?" ... "Do you have any particular concerns about the home?" Having everything planned in advance shows that I have done this before. It builds client confidence. It gets me off the phone quicker.

  17. And where is the ice? We are ASSuming it to be at the eaves.
  18. Kurt, Where else could you find this much love??? On second thought, don't answer.[:-paperba
  19. John, That was the perfect article for this thread. It shows the political side, the economic side, and nothing from the scientific side. That's why Caoimhin's points are important. Radon is real. Alpha, beta and gamma radiation are real. The danger is real. But the science is not there yet to intelligently conclude action levelsid="blue">. Until the science is there, all we can have is emotional debate. "Well, we know it's bad, so I want it all gone!" "Oh, come on, that much won't hurt anyone." "Oh, yeah???" "Yeah."
  20. Cellar door???
  21. HEY!!! Happy B'Day. [:-party][:-censore[:-slaphap And thanksid="size4"> for all the smarts you bring to this forum. Don't spit on the cake as you blow out the candles.
  22. No, 62!!! Hit my head? Whhaahaattt? twitch twitch
  23. You might take it for granted most places, but today was the first perfect day for taking the motorcycle out for a ride in Buffalo, NY. Felt SOOOOOOOO good! Ahhhhhhh
  24. If your wife leaves, you won't be able to afford it.
  25. Caoimhin, It is refreshing to read scientific literature regarding science. Unfortunately, science is a weak subject for most Americans. Our society is so 'soundbite' (emotionally) oriented, that a deep logical understanding of almost anything seems nearly unnatural ('cept Britney, of course). Our children's role models, if Presidents are still role models, think Rn is nucular. Thanks for the read. (BTW, I didn't think it was so hard to read until I got to Mr. Greene - that was ugly) AND DO YOU WANT SCIENCE??? id="maroon">Check this out...
