Bobby Ryon Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 This chimney spark arrester was sealed around the multi-wall pipe with clear silicone. I don't really know how to write it up. What do you fireplace experts think? Download Attachment: SiliconeChimney.jpg 77.94 KB
hausdok Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Hi, I normally see a high-temperature butyl or silicone (grey or red) used for that application around here. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! M.
Chad Fabry Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Even low temp silicones are good to nearly 500 degrees. The reds and grays are normally good for about 650. In real life, none of them do well at over 400 continuous exposure. I doubt that'll ever be 400 unless there's a chimney fire.
