Heat Pump

That's pretty normal for a heat pump before defrost mode kicks in. Typically, if there's an air flow or refrigerant problem, the entire condenser frosts over.

To protect myself, however, if I see frost on a condenser of a house I'm checking out, I peek back every 1/2 hour or so to make certain the condenser defrosted like it's supposed to.
