mthomas1
Does anyone have a link to a discussion of best practices / standards for vapor retarders and insulation at the interior of single wythe CMU walls in general, and split face block in particular? kurt
There's that document, which approaches bible status with me, and there's the thing that I know Michael is talking about, i.e. the split face issue in Chicago. There is no best practice applied in any of them. They're all a mess. All of them, for multitudes of reasons. The engineered drainage systems that have to be used on single wythe aren't used anywhere. Steve Hier and I had a meeting with the new City of Chicago Buildings Commissioner a couple weeks ago, and it seems (so far) that we might have some minor voice in how the new masonry codes are promulgated. Pipe dream right now, but there's change afoot to describe best practice single wythe construction in Chicago.
