Chad Fabry Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Gerber, knife maker to world, recalls their "Legendary" machete because of laceration hazards. You can't make this crap up.
Inspectorjoe Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 "You can't make this crap up"? People are getting hurt by using a knife that could have been designed better (judging by the pictures) and the company is fixing the problem so more people don't get hurt. You have a problem with that?
Chad Fabry Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 Th irony of a knife being recalled because it's sharp and cuts things .... ah never mind.
RobC Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 The saw side of the machete can stick in wood during use, and if the user's hand slips off the handle and slides forward across the machete blade, this poses a laceration hazard. I can see how someone could get injured without a guard.
mgbinspect Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I love my Gerber all in one tool, but the blade on the thing is, indeed, scary sharp. I imagine one could accidentally do some serious damage without even feeling it at first. I'm always extremely careful when it's open. Ah, this is, of course, more about the folly of attorneys than the blade.
Tom Raymond Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Th irony of a knife being recalled because it's sharp and cuts things .... ah never mind. I got a good laugh out of it. Thanks.
Ben H Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Who would use that to saw wood? Haven't these people ever heard of a battery powered saw-zall[]
