gtblum
Are there specific requirements for spacing the dead man ties for these? I've seen recommendations for anywhere from four, to eight, to ten feet. These are at twelve. Click to Enlarge 79.67 KB Check out the one on the end. Brandon Whitmore
Section R404 in the IRC covers foundation walls/ retaining walls. R404.5 says that non laterally supported retaining walls shall be designed to prevent sliding, overturning, etc. I'm not sure how you determine if it was designed, who designed it, etc.

gtblum
Any drain holes in the wall? Lots of them. Everywhere you look. See how wet the spaces between the timbers are? We had a pretty big storm yesterday morning. Nothing I've read bothers to address drainage holes. I can understand why. There should be plenty of room for that where they're joined. I just hope they did the right thing behind the wall. (drainage)
