Jim, Is the use of tar or felt paper predominant in new construction in your area? Around here we get tyvek house wraps and our staining (normally through vinyl) results from improper fasteners being used on the wrap...
I'm with Paul B. The builders are trying to cut costs at every corner. The days of having a "better than it has to be" home built are over... I just hope the ones they build now last longer than the mortgage... But I sometimes doubt it...

I do feel for those who remain. In a lot of neighborhoods the current residents are trying to enact regimes and develop HOA's to combat the trend to overbuild next to thier existing homes. You see it on the news all the time. Sadly only a few are enjoying real success...[:-thumbd]
Roof climbing is important, but it aint work dying for, TOO TRUE... But you could tell from pic one (in the thread start) that roof was going to have endured alot of physical damage! It needed to be walked...
