  1. I'm a big fan of Duluth. I should try them.

  3. Make it about 500 words worth, I'd be interested. The average customer isn't interested in reading more than 500 words on any topic, let alone CSST.
  4. Uma.......[:-eyebrow
  5. LED's are worth it. I quintupled the amount of lighting at the apartment building and dropped my bill in half. Lots of options now for LED's that weren't available even a few months ago.
  6. Kibbel?
  7. I do that now. I want a challenge.
  8. I'm stoked. I got my sharpening station set up, ready to give it a fair work out. I'll get both blades to an optimum edge, then experiment with some cutting and slicing on different materials. I'll be fair. I'm thinking some abuse with cutting cardboard. I'll do some food slicing. I got a chunk of end grain white ash....I'll try and peel some end grain curls. I got a good steel to keep them burnished. What else would be a good test procedure?
  9. Sure thing! How 'bout a #8? I'm having to send it thru TIJ's email feature so I can't put Opinel Challenge on it.
  10. Nah, 4 is enough, w/a #8 fitting the bill for most stuff. Slippers OTOH...... Click to Enlarge 69.77 KB Chinese wife = lots of slippers with questionable esthetics.
  11. Look good. Duluth makes a stretchy type now that might be more comfortable. I'm just kinda partial to Duluth...they make good stuff.
  12. Same here. I thought that was the problem.

Yeah, get some of that spray goop where the guy puts a screen door in the bottom of a boat, sprays it, and makes it waterproof. I'm sure it's UL listed.....not.... Or, maybe some of that Popeil hair spray stuff would seal it.
  14. No barbs or hooks, but these are about as close as I've gotten to something that grips.
  15. Cool.
  16. Oh, yeah, Denray is a climber/rafter/gungho attack module in the form of a home inspector. I like him though. Honest.
  17. I don't understand. I'm talking about how to stop sliding and tactics and you are talking about.....what?
  18. That's an astute observation that applies to a lot of the silly stuff in this gig. The rationalizations are not performance or logic based; it's corporate legal covering asses.
  19. It's interesting that the things one should do to stop sliding are all kind of counter intuitive......lean AWAY from the roof, sit down and spread out, etc. Then again, if one finds themselves sliding, they've already made a couple grave tactical errors.....

I agree. I'd be hitting it with 3M tape and it'd be fine. I'd never say that in a report though. It's just setting oneself up for some cavalier asshole to slam the stupid home inspector. If Mr. Cavalier wants to do it, cool. I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but a lot of the union guys just lay in waiting for HI's to say something they can contradict to make us look like dorks.
  21. When I'm up on a dangerous one, I'm always lining myself up with a plumbing vent, valley, chimney, vent, skylite, or whatever I can grab or jam against should I start to slide. No way in hell would I have been on that moss back mess. You slip on that quicker than thin shit goes through a tall Swede.

Ignant = someone who knows better but does something really stupid anyway. If I saw those entrance conductors in that bad a shape, I'd probably put it in the report. The insulation is there for a reason; if it's compromised or failed, bad things can happen.
  23. How easy is it to sharpen? The beauty of the carbon steel is it's amazingly easy to sharpen to a razor edge, and it holds it as well as any of my stainless blades. Stainless is overrated for daily use knives AFAIC.
  24. On sale now @ REI. I am offering my extensive knowledge in slipper selection for a fee. $200 ?!? I could get a nice tool kit with the real things for that much.
  25. Forgot to say.....get the carbon steel, not the stainless. Never tried the stainless cuz the carbon is so nice.
