  1. It looks like the neutral is insulated making me believe that there is a disconnect somewhere ahead of these panels. There is an issue with the number of cables improperly secured in some of those cable clamps. I have never seen a clamp rated for more than 2 cables.
  2. If you think about the true length of the spiral sheath vs the length of the cable you will see that the spiral is many times longer than the cable itself. Add in the fact that you are depending on the intergrity of the spiral between coils and it should not be hard to see why it would be a poor grounding path.
  3. This was commonly done, but was incorrect. This was a listing and labeling violation. The label had to be read to know the correct method. This has now been spelled out in the NEC.
  4. As stated in my first post. One white per hole. Bare or green grounding can typically share the same hole.
  5. Are you asking about the grounded or grounding conductors? Grounded conductors need to be one per hole. Grounding conductors can be 2-3 per hole, depending on the size range. They should be the same size per hole.
  6. Switches are prohibited by the NEC over the footprint of the tub or shower also.
  7. AFAIK the AC needs the bond strip in order to be used as a grounding method. I have seen old stuff without the bond strip glowing red from a fault to the casing without tripping the breaker.
  8. Quote: Beginning December 31, 2008, the City of Bellevue will require all general-purpose circuits in new or remodeled single-family and multifamily dwelling units to be protected with Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCIs). Wonder how they will deal with this on a panel change? It does not say only new circuits. Oversight perhaps?
  9. There is no NEC article regarding the T-stat mounting height. The dimension stated does seem to be a common measurement. Probably deals more with the comfort level and a persons perception of heat or cold in relationship to their head.
  10. The older CH GFI breakers were of a 2 pole design space-wise. The black jumper was part of the breaker.
  11. First, could you please stop shouting? Secondly, I doubt that without the proper experience in electrical that you could get licensed to perform electrical work. At least here that would be 7 years of experience in the trade.
  12. Is there a way for the OP to post a picture? I agree that something does not sound correct and possibly dangerous.
  13. Are you saying you wrote up the nite lite?
  14. Older insulations had a different thickness than todays insulations. Do not get misled by this, look at the conductor ends.
  15. Only one conductor should be in that lug.
  16. Type UF cable typically has solid conductors with a gray covering. It is rated for use outdoors and underground.
